Thanks for that Kevin. Will do the same. Got a small problem right now - of the 5 wheels I got, turns out 4 are LWB ones and 1 is a SWB. I know from bitter experience what happens when you mix wheel on the same axle so I need to source a LWB 110 tubeless rim . Until then it will have to serve as the spare.kevin wrote:Good work!
Having worked a lot on my Series 2 Lightweight (used to do lots of greenlaning in it so very muddy etc) I found that on re-assembly of the brakes inc the threads of the bleed nipples etc, a little dab of copper grease always kept the mechs working even when immersed in all sorts of goo and made the subsequent strip down and re-assembly a whole lot easier.

I've got a couple of defender wheels in my attic, how does one tell what model they are from?

Re: Series 3 Landie FFR
General rule of thumb - if you can get the tip of your finger between the spider and the rim like this photo its a LWB one.
If you can't as in this photo it's a SWB one.
And - of course - if the spider is welded to the rim is a tubeless one, If it's riveted then it needs an inner tube.

Re: Series 3 Landie FFR
Nice sunshine today and Toby our dog was in the vets for IV treatment so I cracked on with the Landie, press ganging the daughter Mk 1 and the boyfriend Mk IV into service. And at the end of the day we achieved 3 things:
1) The brakes are now bled. First I found a leak on the drivers side - one of the unions into the cylinder needed nipping up. But in the end the system was bled as best as possible given the facilities available in a front garden. Pedal is not wonderful but enough to stop her.. So I will get her booked in for an MoT and tell the garage about the brakes - getting them to bleed using their system if necessary. Just need to finalise the adjusters now.
2) She is now sitting on tubeless rims. These still need finishing off with paint in a couple of places and looking at the ones that came off - it seems I have 4 x SWB and 1 x LWB So the question now is this - do I replace the 4 SWB rims with the correct LWB ones Or just accept the SWB ones and merely replace the LWB spare with with a SWB rim?? Decisions, decisions......
3) I've totally fooked my back up somehow. Moving is agony!!!

I preferred LWB rims on my SWb series, have the vehicle a bit more of a stance in my eyes!

If it's the type where you can get the fingertip between the spider and the actual rim then yes please - at least then I will have a spare that matches the other 4 wheels!! Whereabouts in Essex are you??kstrutt1 wrote:If you want the rim I have which I think is swb you are welcome to it.
