Spent some time on the Puma, got it cleaned and after that it looked like this:

After using it lots last weekend I hoovered out the interior (mainly the mats) and paid attention to some little details like cleaning out the gunk from the embossed gear lever and cleaning the windows. With such a little used car the interior is pretty immaculate, no wear on the seats at all:

I'll get a new boot carpet as the current one has a few stains

Incidentally, the book is tiny. It's not so bad but the shape is so restrictive I can't get my unicycle in there!

Under the bonnet, There are some clips missing holding the bulkhead trim on which I suspect was the garage that changed the HCV being lazy, the screws holding the wiper trim are rusty so I'll change those and a few other clips missing. It will also need some tyres soon on the front. The indicators stalk doesn't self cancel so I'm not sure if the mechanism for this is repairable or just to get a replacement unit and I need a new set of batteries for the keyfob remote central locking.

So today I spent tinkering, and tomorrow I plan on taking it for a fun drive :) Luckily I'm not far from some wonderful routes in the Brecon Beacons!

Looking good for a wash :) The only thing I would do to the exterior is pull off the mud flaps. They trap crud against the arches and make them rust faster. I took the front ones off my 2005 focus when one broke and have been looking for replacement wings since as they are both rotten.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

I've actually has the drivers one off when doing the timing belt and it was pretty good (don't forget this is a 40,000 mile car) and I prefer the look with them on so will leave them now, but thanks for the advice.

Incidentally it got washed twice over the weekend!

Only twice?! My Golf must have got washed four or five times over the weekend; surprisingly though, I had to water the pot plants by the front door!

I half agree with Terry about mudflaps - the last Golf only ever had two bits of rust that needed attention - one bit at the top of each mudflap, where the flaps rubbed the wing. The current (rot box) Golf is rusting there already (though has a few other spots that also need attention). However, the flaps do stop a lot of muck spraying the side of the car and, as the muck is mostly stuff that has come from cows' rear ends, it can cause worse rust! When I sorted the last Golf, I marked the outline of the flap and put loads of paint on (with a brush) and managed to get Waxoyl behind the flap once it was in place. I hope to do the same with the rot box before winter but the Landy is such an attention seeker!

Noted Tractorman, thanks.

My attentions will be back to the B V8 this weekend though thankfully :)

Eh? The unipiper is from Portland which last time I looked was in Oregon, USA. If there's a Portland in Scotland I've somehow managed to avoid it so far. :?

(Youtube is wick with clips of the piper, such as these.
