Frustrated by the fact the cheapo universal 3rd brake light I bought would not remain stuck to the inside top of the rear screen,no matter what I tried!
I remembered that a P6 club member had fitted a Jaguar XK8 convertible unit to the boot of his car
Turned out it was not that easy to find one at a sensible price, but in the end I found one for £40 all in rather than the £100 + p/p shipped from the USA!
Not wanting to drill holes in the bootlid,I removed its 3 securing screws, used a self adhesive strip to protect the boot paint, drilled 2 suitable holes in the boot mount, and ran the wiring.
Once the spare wheel is refitted,it pushed down on the unit, securing it in position!
All I now have to do is get it painted to match, but as it doesnt show much, theres no rush!
Just got to see how far in I can tuck it under so its still secure and still does the job!
Oh and fix that dangly fog light wire!
Shame it doesnt flash, GET OFF MY ARSE
Will have to get a sticker made up for the top of the rear screen!
Fitting a 3rd brake light!

The double-sided sticky pads used on interior mirrors work well for fixing the 3rd brake light to glass

Re: Fitting a 3rd brake light!
You must have an especially heavy brake light then - the one I fitted to my Jeep Cherokee has held up through a year of desert sun (50C+) here in Abu Dhabi.Pilkie wrote:Not the ones I tried from various motor factors!Richard Moss wrote:The double-sided sticky pads used on interior mirrors work well for fixing the 3rd brake light to glass
Re: Fitting a 3rd brake light!
A cheap plastic led about 7" long with feet either end, couldnt get much lighter!
Anyway this is much better!!
