Found time to drop the bumpers off the Jag - they are typical of a low mileage car that's been stored - a couple of minor dinks here and there but on car like this they stand out to me like a sore thumb !! To save cost & time I opted to straighten them up before sending them to the chromer

Damage like this was chased out from the rear then the high spots roughed out with a course file - then worked back with a finer file - P80's production paper & block - them P180's until I achieved this result

Difficult to see with the light reflection but will be great once rechromed - the parts dealers want £450 for a rear quarter bumper alone so this is well worth the effort - dinks to the front one piece and the rear section were also sorted

The mounting bracket on the front bumper had taken a knock at some stage and was out of line - I carefully cut through the welds with an airsaw - straightened the bracket up and shot blasted the surface rust off it before mig welding it back into situ

The offside rear quarter only had one bolt through it when I came to remove it - someone had sheared the other at some stage

Both heat and a pair of mole grips failed so I opted to weld a bolt to what was remaining and that also failed to remove the stud - last option that did work was to drill the stud out and retap the captive nut

New bolts ready to go when it gets back from the chromer

The rear over riders had also suffered the odd minor push - again at heading for £100 each from the Jag parts market the effort taken to straighten them up is worth it

I will now try to find time to sort the rest of the bits on the car whilst this lot is away being sorted
