Those exhaust pipes...
Those exhaust pipes...
HAVE to go. Loops under the frame, on both sides. Not a lot of use on a vehicle built to go off-road. Pipes are split and rusted out anyway.

Re: Those exhaust pipes...
Hands up those that think it would look good with side pipes.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Re: Those exhaust pipes...
(does not raise hand). It'll be going back to a more stock configuration. Single pipe, routed up above the frame to reduce chances of getting snagged. Freddie not be a "down and dirty" off-roader (that's the YJ's remit), but even the occasional green lane would remove those pipes in no time flat. Side pipes would suffer a similar fate.TerryG wrote:Hands up those that think it would look good with side pipes.
What's not visible in the pic are the splits and rust damage in the pipes.

Re: Those exhaust pipes...
Terry side pipes would depend on the vehicle.
Could somebody post a picture of the actual vehicle please to get a better idea.

Spoil sport!
A bit of a lift, mud tyres, bull bars, extra spots on the front and a roof bar with 4 more, chrome side pipes.
Maybe it is as well I don't own that.

Most of the above items are on the list. But an exposed exhaust system is not.TerryG wrote:Spoil sport!

Re: Those exhaust pipes...
Yeah, a bit of a lift should work. So long as you don't plan on fitting the truck back into that stock LA issue lockup afterwards...
(Tip, to solve this one if or when it arises, take the extra from the floor, they won't look there).

Re: Those exhaust pipes...
That garage is Freddies old home. It's where Ben and his family kept it. The story goes that they had to try various garages in the row to find the only one that Freddie would actually fit in. Even then it was a squeeze. They had to remove the towball to be able to close the door!JPB wrote:Yeah, a bit of a lift should work. New springs would be on the list of 'wants'. The rear ones especially are showing their age. An SOA conversion would be nice to have, and the parts are available. But a high steer conversion for a RHD Jeep is more problematic as the appropriate knuckle just doesn't exist.
Not sure what the 'tip' refers to but not going to touch the floors as they are too good to muller for sheet metal donor parts.

SOA? You will have to forgive my lack of jeep knowledge.
