This is great stuff, I'm astonished at the pace you work at, the same work would have taken me ten times as long! Congratulations on your stoic attitude to finding ever more rust too - keep it up, we want to see the finished results of all this!

More rust issues on the way home from work, the main front rear brake pipe burst due to one small area of corrosion just behind the front wheel.
Good news is the front part of the dual circuit system seems to work pretty well !

I have a roll of pipe and flaring tools so replacing it will not be a major issue, obvioulsy the rest will get a very close inspection.

Brake pipe replaced, at least no sign of corrosion on the fittings, I haven't bled them yet so lets hope the bleed nipples come undone!

Most of the rust also cut out of the floor hopefully get it all replaced tomorrow, might even get the body mount done as well.

Some pictures of the progress on the range rover, firstly the repaired footwell from inside.
And from the outside, the panel to the outside goes right to the top inside and is bolted using the inner wing bolts, eventually I will remove both wings and the cowl and repir the upper area properly, for now it will just all be sealed up.
The base of the a pillar most of the outer sill and the front of the inner / body mount all removed, I have a piece of 5mm plate I put between the lpg tank and working area.
Still a bit to do but it should not take too long, hopefully by next weekend, though I am also decorating a bedroom at the same time!

Your sills look exactly like mine did until a couple of weeks ago. You work MUCH faster than I do. Well done on getting so far, so quickly!

Some progress last night, the repair section has been seam welded up and fitted.
Ialso folded up the new outer sill.

hopefully i will get the outer sill on tomorrow then the base of the pillars and paint.

Finished the drivers side welding tonight,sills and pillars welded.
Then painted with epoxy.

I then turned my attention to the front door, it is completely rust free but had cracked around the top hinge, firstly I welded the cracks.
Then welded a plate over the top, fortunatelly there were several shims so the thickness of the plate wont be a problem.

The rr is all painted and back together now, just the left hand sill / front floor /A pillar to do to make it mot worthy.

Now the drivers door is hinged properly I have noticed the latch only opens at the very end of the lever pull, I suspect it has the common issue of a broken spring.

On the others the tr almost torched itself, noticed a burning smell and turned out the terminal on the choke warning switch had rotated and shorted to the cable, fortunately after melting the switch and cable the fuse blew.

So I bdecided to use the lotus only for the alternator to fail.

Also discvovered the mx5 is lethal in wet greasy weather, getting some decent rear tyres thursday to replace the god awful sunteks the dealer fitted to it when we bought it.

Spent most of xmas on the rr (when I wasn't laid up with flu) passenger sided rust was considerably worse than drivers, ended up replacing:

Outer sill
Front of sill body mount
Front floor
Kick panel
Wing mounting rail
Large parts of inner wing
Base of bulkhead body mount
base of front panel body mount.

Its all now painted just awaiting re-assembly and hopefully it should be ready for an MOT.
