LOTUS MK1 CORTINA RESTORATION
Ive wanted one of these for 40 years.
In my opinion, the ultimate classic ford.
Decided to bite the bullet and buy one.
A mate of mine who is a Lotus Cortina specialist
put me intouch with the owner who runs the Lotus Cortina Register.
Went to view it last week and bought it.Anyone who knows these cars
knows there not cheep in any condition and this was no exception.
The guy has had this car for 30 years. He also has a Lotus mk1 Cortina SE
which is worth £80k +.
A lot of work to do but well worth it.Floor is very good.Wants wings bonnet sills ect.
I estimate £10k to spend on it,but this will bring it up to the highest standards.
The capri went today and the chevy truck will be going to,to fund this project.
Its a 1965 airflow car.A frame car which is very sort after.

Ooooh, a new Chap Foose thread!
This I am REALLY looking forward to....
Great stuff, are you going for complete originality or will you be modding it? If so, how much?
All the best!

Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Hello Tina!
Congratulations on finding one I can't wait to see your restoration work with this. The only mk1 Cortina that you can use instead of a mirror!

Re: LOTUS MK1 CORTINA RESTORATION
I'm jealous, particularly of the new owner of the Chevy. Hopefully he will keep it in an air conditioned garage and never take it out. Seeing it would really rub salt in the wound.chap foose wrote: The capri went today and the chevy truck will be going to,to fund this project.
The Cortina is going to be a stunner.
Currently over 35 years worth of fixing 35 boxes.
Hoping to reach 65 years worth of fixing 65 boxes.

It comes with everything apart from the head.
Panels will cost around £3000,plus everything else.
I would estimate £10k should see it done with me doing the work.
Cheers Paul

If I had the choice of the truck or the lotus I would keep the lotus every time.
Trucks are easier to find lol
