29k one owner Metro 1.3 GS 5 Door
29k one owner Metro 1.3 GS 5 Door
Just picked this up today. (saved it from the scrap man)
having flown through it's MOT in June 08, its was parked in its garage and stayed there.
Plan to have it tested this week, then a clean up and take it from there.
Will likely sell it on to a discerning owner .

It's surprising how small they seem now! That's nice I'll have to post up a pic of the 33000 mile Metro Mozaic complete with it's original weird trim and mozaic badging that I bought for my daughter to learn in for the princly sum of £260. I really hope she doesn't prang it because it's far to good for her really!

Well, after a fail on one point the GS now has a full test.
Emmisions were well out as to be expected, but this was sorted on the machine prior to the test starting.
The only fail was poor effort (read next to nothing) on the Passenger rear brakes.
This was down to the cylinder being seized.
45mins later and a new cylinder fitted the GS was re-tested and passed well.
So, full 12 months ticket, general service done, New battery, and all grease points attended to while on the ramps.
Small rust spots on passenger rear door.
Who would like to give the old girl a home?
As said before I took her on at short notice to prevent the car being cubed.
Now I have done the required work to get it a full MOT and make sure everything works as it should, its ready for a new permanent home.
Closest to £650 gets her.
I'll give it a little time , and then its to ebay .

Funnily enough, eBay seems to have been awash with the Metro breed recently. I was outbid on no fewer than four really nice ones so there's clearly demand there, yet still the cars remain affordable. Probably not for much longer as folk who don't remember the cars from the '80s are catching on to just how much Metro you can have for your money.
Fortunately, and presumably as a result of the 4-speed AP transmission being something of a Marmite thing (I love it as well as needing it), two-pedal versions are often a few quid below manuals and a straight, usable one with decent tyres or indeed conventional wheels and tyres, wouldn't have to work too hard to find itself being bought by me.
Lipari Blue would be good.
See what I mean?Closest to £650 gets her.

Nice to see it saved. I didn't know they even made a four door Metro that early.

They didn't, count them again or have a look at the thread title......Aar0sc wrote:I didn't even know they made a four door metro :/
Early? This was the last year of production with the exception of the vans and Swedish market 850cc models. I've never seen a 5-door miniMETRO, so possibly the extra pair came with the demise of the mini badging, which would have been late 1983.
We've had three of these, one miniMETRO and two later, low bonnet Metros, the first, KNL980X, a 998cc L version that was Mother's from new until two years after, is still around but currently off the road, but B662HJR - a City - and F781JVK - that Lipari City X - both seem to have died.
