Today the tripod end of the drive shaft which go into the gearbox came out,
along with about a litre of transmission fluid!!

Also the re-measurements for the gearbox mounts were done.
Using the neons mount on the voyager gearbox will give me the best match.
Well I hope it does anyway!

Measuring the drive shafts themselves tomorrow, the engine WILL be going in
the engine bay also to mark out the other mounts.

Anybody ever drilled a hole on the sub-frame for a mount before?

Have PM'd that phone number for the engine sheds, give them a buzz and ask for either Graeme or Andy, they'll sort you out.

pcb no pm recieved!

It's been raining, the wind is too strong to use the crane for the engine,
I don't want to put the windscreen in!
Add to that I think I have got the dogs kennel cough, coughing so hard
almost throwing up!
Feels like I have been gargling with barbwire, and a headaches.
Looks like soup for the next few days.

In case the coughing distracts me too much and causes an accident,
best not do anything on the car for a day or so.
Plus it would give the weather a chance to improve.

And I so wanted to get some work done on the car too!!

Incase I have to go down the serpintine belt route I have purchased a replacement pulley for
the power steering pump, the v6's power steering pump was damaged and so was the pulley.
So plan 'B' is there just incase, as the pulley arrived this morning.

As jimbo mentioned in his thread for his v6 swap
http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=362166
his gearbox dosen't have a port for the speed sensor on the long right hand drive shaft port.
Well neither does mine!!! and mine is an auto.

Image

Yes that is Blue Paper Towels in the port to stop dirt etc getting in and the oil out!

I then had a thought about the picture in jimbo's thread
'That looks like the port on the autobox on the old 3 speed box'

So 4 X 13mm bolts and it came off the old autobox, and I took the drive shafts out of the
boot/trunk and placed them side by side on a metal stool/step.

Image

The one which has the full drive shaft is the neon's old one, the drive shaftend/tripod is off
the voyager. If I hadn't sated which was which could you tell the difference?

They look to both have the same dimentiones for this bolt on part.
So this is plan 'B' for the speed sensor for the swap.

This afternoon the V6 finnaly went into the engine bay, but I had get help.
It was either help from dad or the V6 went through the windscreen!!
So it is in there, but sitting on blocks of wood with the inlet manifold holding,
it from the back and a dimond jack at the front to stop it falling over.
The engine and gearbox & mounts etc are not lined up yet.

Image

Image

Yes the engine is tiltyed forward and the inlet manifold is resting on the lip,
at the top of the fire wall. Snug fit!!

And now for the issue of clearance around the brake master cylinder.

Image

Image

If the engine has to be dropped then there will be more clearance.
Alternatively I could get the inlet manifold modified or replaced.
