Has anybody noticed how ebay no-longer gives out/passes on the tracking
numbers given by the courier/post office! They haver their own option which
lags behind behind with the details and display etc
Here are the details of the spring seats I bought for the rear struts, they
heading in the opposite direction!!!!!!!!
In Transit-Processed through USPS Sort Facility; Jun-14-13, 00:48 AM, SAINT PAUL, MN 55121

In Transit-Processed through USPS Sort Facility; Jun-14-13, 00:11 AM, SAINT PAUL, MN 55121

In Transit-Processed at USPS Origin Sort Facility; Jun-11-13, 18:18 PM, FLUSHING, NY 11351

In Transit-Accepted at USPS Origin Sort Facility; Jun-11-13, 17:03 PM, ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY 11570
Then there is this new charge which is showing on anything I want to buy
from the uSA. instead of expecting to pay any import taxes on the UK side
I'm getting charged for them on the USA side!

If the delivery address etc is done correctly I shouldn't have to pay import
tax as the customs office look at the item value and the delivery cost
separately and not as a whole.

2 X Spring isolators(spring seats)= $25.36 which works out at £16.24
If I recall correctly the allowance before duty/tax is applied is £18
So I have had "Import charges: US $12.84" applied how many others has
this happened to and IF this charge is not going to BRITISH customs for the
item and I get charged again, what can I do about??

Okay back on topic!

I was in no state last night after putting the rear suspension fully back on
the car. Nothing went right for me putting it back together!!
Sewells gave me a good quote on some new springs but I will have to wait
a few weeks as I have a serious lack of funds at the moment.

The front wheel had to come off so I could get better access to wiring in
that area of the car behind the front right wheel. The power steering sensor
and the abs for the front right wheel were reconnected, but I can't find the
socket for the downstream lambda sensor.

This means I haven't got the wiring or I made the wiring and it's snagged
further up in the engine bay!! There is a few damaged connectors on the
front for indicators and fog-lights etc (lets just say dad and leave it at that!)
It may come down to having to strip out the wiring looms and start again
with the few problem areas of the wiring it may be the simplest option

The front brake discs are in need of being redressed so that they can move
freely without having to fit new discs and pads. I am not going to buy new
discs and pads when the old girl could be stood for a period of time and they
too and up in the state of the current discs and pads. Not only would that
be UN-environmentally friendly it would be a serious waste of money(which I
have very little of!!)

Hate to say this Mitsuru but your running, I presume, the stock brakes for the 2.0 car and you now aim to run, when finished the 3.3l motor? What does a Voyager (or the like) run in terms of size of disks? Are they a larger diameter?

Those disks, whilst not heavily worn, will take a battering with more power and I would suggest you check disk diameters for similar 3l cars of this marque. I have seen similar disks for £20- 30 each and for my tuppence I would suggest that you change the disks before putting it on the road. Either that or get them re cut to get rid of the rot as if they are used, as is, I would not expect them to be trouble free even when worn in.

My dad had a Toyota that was not run for an extended time and the disks rusted. He did use the car and found the disks needed replacing PDQ, as they warped.

My herald`s disks are like yours and they will NOT see the road. A replacement will be sourced when I strip the front suspension.

While I can see your point about this project being therapy, I share the view that you should look at getting the engine running. This will be a big step forward if you ever want this car to see the road again. Having a running car will restore your "mojo". I know you have various health issues which is all the more reason to organise a spannering session where several of us can descend on your gaff and move your project forward. While you've done very well to get this far in spite of your health problems, you really need extra pairs of hands (and eyes!). A wiring diagram of your Neon and the Voyager would be the best place to start. Is it possible to get the V6's ECU to talk to the Neon taking the autobox into account? That seems to be the stumbling block to getting the engine running.

Is there something we can do to help this poor guy?

Good plan Dave, I'd certainly be up for descending on Aron's place mob handed and helping him to get the car running and his mojo working. :)

8-) ...and I'll bring one of my biggest, loudest ghettoblasters with 10 fresh D cells and a selection of tapes containing that very sort of thing.

Or a spot of LL Cool J if that's what it takes. :?

What say you, Mitsuru? That Toledo Man is a dab hand with motors, I can be placed under a car and left to get on with the job and surely some of the local retroriders would be up for such a task? Dibs on getting the electrics working please!

With Next door replacing their roof while we have the good weather
we have had too keep everything away from that part of the drive
so as not to be hit b any debris. By the looks of how well they are
cracking on they will be finished at the weekend.

There is little if any parking in the street especially at weekends, also
if any help were to come it would be best when My father is at work,
as he gets wound up when there are people he doesn't know on the
property after the recent problems with unwanted visitors (there is a
posting on another thread relating to that!)

To get away from all that noise!! I have had a quick run up to the
scrapyard (yes it was quieter up there!)to get some ideas on what
springs might be suitable as replacements for the back end on the
neon. Taking some measurements of the car as she sits on the cut
springs at the right hight. She has;
Ground clearance 6.5"-7" from the sill to the floor.
The spring is 6.5"-7" under this situation.
When a jack is used to lift the car and the wheel is off the ground the
spring is 9.5" and is still pushing against the car and the strut seat.

I was looking at either a coil spring from the rear of a heavier car or
from the front of a small to medium sized car. This is to cope with the
weight of the car as standard with out people in, plus the added weight
of a full petrol tank a full lpg tank replacing the space saver wheel with
a full sized spare and the possibility of something being towed!
