Reliant Scimitar GT Coupe's
Hi everyone, just thought I'd post a pic of my 2 roadworthy Reliant Scimitar GT Coupe's.
The blue one is a 3 litre V6 from 1970 (one of the last made) and the gold one is a 2.6 straight 6 and is the first Scimitar GT built and registered to Reliant.
For more info, have a look at http://www.scimitargt.co.uk
cheers, Matt

Hi Matt, I think your cars look great! I prefer the front view to the rear though, I think the boot lid design looks strange. Isn't it funny how we get used to a certain design being applied, and a novel one seems so strange to the eye. Anyway, both cars look to be in fabulous condition. Did you restore them?

Re: Reliant Scimitar GT Coupe's
Thanks guys, the rear end may seem odd to some as most people are used to the estate back on a GTE (which shares a very similar front end).
The gold car was bought fully restored but unused for 20+ years so I got it back on the road and love using it. The blue one was partly restored in the early 1980's but then left on axle stands, unfinished in a Scottish garage for over 20 years, I finished the resto and now use the car loads, even for european travel and it's so nice to drive.
There are plenty more pics and info on my website at www.scimitargt.co.uk so feel free to have a look
thanks again, Matt

Here's a few extra pictures from the NEC show in 2010, this is where the club celebrated the 45th anniversary of the scimitar GT being launched (my car is the pre production prototype) and 30 years of the Scimitar GTC

HI Matt, It's funny, I really like the shanpe of the car in the side view in the NEC shots. I think it might just be the high camera angle in your previous photo that made the boot look strange. Delighted to hear that you get regular use out of the cars. That's what they were made for after all!
Re: Reliant Scimitar GT Coupe's
Matt, do you know Bob Thompson by any chance? He's a really entertaining Glaswegian fella who used to work at Cardinal Triumph before they went South, doing their body prep & paintwork on Stags and Dolomites.
Reason I ask is that he owns a '66 Coupé in a light metallic blue which has the IL6 engine and which he repainted a few years ago to an incredible standard.
He shows it at pretty much all of the NECPWA events locally as well as other shows and it's a pretty well-known car up here. I was impressed by just how amazingly over-engineered the chassis appeared to be when compared to the later cars, I'm sure that the wall thickness of the main chassis rails was something not far off scaffold pole gauge.
The car's pictured below, I took the photo at the North East Scimitar day in June of 2007:

Fingers crossed I'll get to see his car at Curborough one day - www.rssoc-curborough.co.uk , either that or I'll have to get up to the NE scim day one year
cheers, Matt

Re: Reliant Scimitar GT Coupe's
Afternoon all,
just wanted to let you all know that I've got 2 new coupes for sale on http://www.scimitargt.co.uk and am expecting 2 more very soon. Both these new cars are in excellent condition and look like bargains.
I've also redesigned the for sale pages on my site so each car gets its own page, the main 'for sale' page shows individual pages for each car for sale, and you can scroll through the adverts by clicking 'next' at the base of each advert
Click on 'Car & Parts For Sale/wanted' at the top of the home page and then you can see all of the adverts with photos. You can even subscribe to the RSS feed at the top of the for sale page to be notified when new cars are listed
enjoy, Matt
