Re: Another Montego!

Just got back from the MOT station. very impressed with the car, but not the previous owners garage who repaired the sill ends! Has been advised on both repairs. (for piece of mind). Repairs are :testable" but advises a correct repair be carried out in the future. So, now she is Tested until August ...

Re: An eye opener while looking for a classic

I also like the look for the Fiat X/19. Could look at a TR7 or a MR2 Mk1 1 X19 Fun cars.-parts expensive, lots of rust in hidden places. TR7, Fun car - parts reasonable, lots of rust in hidden places. MR2 Mk1 Great fun, cult following, prices rising, some parts hard to get (apparently) If you fancy...

Re: An eye opener while looking for a classic

Stuff the "Norm" for classics. Get something unusual and still "up and coming" Reliant Scimitars for example, are still very underated fun cars, great fun to drive, seat 4, reasonably priced and have a ford V6 as standard!. Ford's Moggy's and certain Triumphs,MG's, jags etc are now far too expensive...

Re: Another Montego!

It's usually the case. Austin rover group took some serious blows from the press and the public at the time these where being built. Mainly due to all the union issues and rust etc. But then most if not all 80's cars suffered from early onset corrosion no matter what make. I remember Fords and Vauxh...

Another Montego!

I picked this one up for my Dad, as he "Was" planning on driving again. Changed his mind, so will be up for grabs soon. H plate 2.0 LX Saloon. (Carb Model), P.O. fitted a manual choke kit, but fitment of the cable needs a little work. P.O.'s local garage repaired lower arch to sill joins for him, to...

Re: One mans trash is another mans storage racks!

They look like they used to be "Griddle Trays" or maybe oven trays?

Always good to reuse stuff, especially as it saves you brass!.

Re: Following on from the 1.6L Montego Saloon Thread....

id be interested to see your service of the autobox.. For a start it will be getting my usual "double flush" of the fluid, and then left till totally drained. Then a good quality fluid will be used to correct levels. After that, it will have a test run, to see if any "niggles" need dealing with, if...

Re: Following on from the 1.6L Montego Saloon Thread....

A little update, progress has been a little slow due to other commitments, but some work has been done. Starting to get there. Still arch's to Tidy, Hatch paint to deal with and screen seal to do. "Toast rack" Alloys seam to suit it. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff1/MGTurboMal/1985%20Austin%20...
