Re: MGB Brake fluid

No no no. Dot 3 4 and 5.1 are glycol based they are not mineral. This brakes 101 before working on brakes one must understand the various brake fluids because getting it wrong WILL cause brake failure and at best a total brake rebuild of all rubber bits. Or take up the harp and don angel wings. Bob...

Sorry, no, its not. Dot 5.1 is the non-silicone version of Dot 5.0.

Dot 3, 4, and 5.1 are all "mineral" fluids.

Re: Exhaust manifold leak

Being the butcher I am at times, I would use a belt sander to get it flattish, then finish off by lapping it on a ground glass sheet covered with valve grinding paste.

I did a couple for a V8 that way a while ago, works a treat. Good for blisters to...they come up a treat! :D

Re: Incoming MIG welder query

In my case, I was taught welding in tea breaks, lunches etc by someone that could. His welding was way, way better than mine. Even so, I've decided to post an example of a bit of ally welding I did a couple of years ago. Going off topic a bit, as it is TIG-welded.

Re: Incoming MIG welder query

....being pedantic, cars are usually MAG welded.... :D That's not really pedantic, but given that MIG is a sub genre to MAG and that MAG can mean either of two things, so is a coverall which undermines the usefulness of the acronym, MIG is probably the more elegant term as it comes without the ambi...

Re: Incoming MIG welder query

Reading through this thread, there is, imho, some good advice and bad advice. My own personal opinion...anything less than a 150A welder is pointless. My own preference is around 180A, but on the other hand, I have 3 phase electrics in my workshop, so things are a bit different. As regards "learning...

Sidelight restoration.

Not sure if this is in the right place, but I thought I would show the result of a sidelight that I restored on mine. Back when I bought my classic, one of the front sidelights looked like this... http://s28.postimg.org/whh7kld4t/001_88.jpg image host ...not a pretty sight. With the aluminium remove...

Re: Rollover jigs....

what is the plural of that? Axes. CxG in the case of objects that only move through one plane is calculated from two axes, X and Y. ;) Correct. I'll try to explain a bit differently. The rollover jig has a front and rear pivot point. This will create an axis. To get thingsl in balance, this axis ha...
