Re: was it a Bedford HA?

When I first read this, I thought "Bedford HA?" Surely he means a Bedford CA....then reading JPB's reply realised it was a Viva van that was being referred to. I can honestly say thats the first time I have ever heard it called a Bedford...even if that is correct. Dont remember the programme though,...

Re: Headlights

I for one would be interested to read any views from History on this subject.

As for mine, one thing I did not realise was that H1 reflectors need more depth behind them when compared to H4's. So theres another aspect to be considered.

Re: Headlights

Quite a bit to think about here...I like the idea of using 4 dipped beams, with the two inners being switchable. Something I had not thought of.

I didnt realise that LED's have a poor pattern, so they can be discounted.

Any comments on HID's on inner (full beam) only? Or are they another bad idea?

Headlights

As part of the ongoing restoration of my car, I've been thinking of upgrading the dual 5 3/4" headlights to something more modern. At present, it has sealed beams. So what are everyones thoughts? 4 lights with H4's, or 2 H4's and 2 H1's? The new style LED bulbs? Or even a Xenon conversion...And yes,...

Re: Tyres.

A couple of points here. First, modern tyres do contain an amount of natural rubber. The percentage varies as to the tyre, but reckon on upwards of 25%. Dedicated winter tyres have the highest quantity. Its the amount of rubber that, to a certain extent defines the life expectancy. More natural rubb...

Re: Weber fuel pressure?

The chances are it is the pump that is causing the problem. In my experience, Webers dont like too much fuel pressure. About 3.5 - 4 psi max. If I remember correctly, the Silver Top is higher than that. 5 psi perhaps? Weber do make a specific pump for their carbs. Its a HVLP unit, whereas the Facet ...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

I have some tips for avoiding damp Wilton in cars: Make sure that the windows are closed when it's raining. Check that the sunshine roof is also closed in similarly moist conditions. Check that your neighbours' kids aren't using your car as a toilet. QED, job done, Alka Seltzer. :| Also, dont prete...
