Re: Automatic up and over garage door openers. Reviews?
Thanks for all the responses folks. At the risk of being ridiculed, and partly in response to GHT's post (no offence taken!), here's why I'm asking: I'm aiming to achieve maximum engine longevity (aren't we all) as well as body preservation for my daily driver project. Body preservation dictates tha...

Re: wooden trim restoration
Generally the rules are to be ridiculously delicate with veneered trim as the veneers are paper thin. I've been advised to avoid sand paper altogether and to use super-fine wire wool to clean stuff back. However, this was for old, varnished stuff rather than something with a modern hard laquer over ...

Automatic up and over garage door openers. Reviews?
Has anyone added an automatic mechanism to their up and over garage door? I'm looking at getting one and would love to hear about your experiences/recommendations.

Re: W108 Mercedes 280SE diesel conversion project
Work continues! I had a batch of small bits and pieces ready for blasting and painting. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn315/prynatcc/Merc%20280SE/re_P1010847_zps5nemuwba.jpg The power steering box was one of them. It had always been leaking so I bought a seal kit and stripped it down. I blocked...

Re: alternator
Can you find a wire that connects to that 30A fuse that is hot (temperature hot, not American live hot!)? It might be traceable back to some failed insulation somewhere. Alternatively remove wires one by one from it to see if you can eliminate the issue?

Re: W108 Mercedes 280SE diesel conversion project
She's airborne! Axles/subframes removed along with steering column and steering box. It's already so convenient having it up like this and clear, well lit access to the underside. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn315/prynatcc/Merc%20280SE/re_P1010844_zpslco5mqla.jpg It has been obvious from the ...

Re: W108 Mercedes 280SE diesel conversion project
Update time! Mechanical work is essentially complete except for some aesthetic work to make the rear axle conversion look nicer. Next step is to patch the rusty bits. With this in mind, everything is stripped again and the car was moved to my friend's place for him to do the welding. We left the axl...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture
Thanks for all the responses folks. I have sourced some foamex samples, it sounds like great stuff!
I'd be covering it in a foam backed vinyl. Is glue the best way to attach the two, or staples, or what?
Paul.

Material for door card re-manufacture
Hi folks, Any opinions or recommendations for which material to use? It's for my 1971 Mercedes 280SE. The existing ones are a hardboard type material and knackered. I'm not bothered about originality if there's something better to use than this. Is hardboard still available? I haven't seen it in a h...

Re: Ukranian charging circuit diagram help please!
I dont know if anyone else has realised, but there is a odd thing about that wiring diagram. The text is not in cryllic script... I'm under the impression that the diagram is for a 66-on Zaz 968. If that is correct, by pure chance I know the town it was made in well, and have friends there. Therefo...
