Re: Why Have people stopped indicating???
Yep, it's not just BMWs that don't indicate these days!! Seriously you are right, late indicating as well, lane discipline of roundabouts, poor parking, the list is endless... Used to be a pleasure to drive back in the early 70s but not any longer... Too many cars and not enough road, especial...

Re: Modern diesel smoke (probably the wrong forum)
Perkins powered Maestros and Montys always smoked, YF, good old early Di diesels in cars, they hadn't quite got the hang of smoke, though they were damned efficient! I have to say my first thought was the EGR, though I can see the logic of the injectors suggestion as well... I had an early Vectra Di...

Re: wheeler dealers trading up
I'm not convinced that it would add £1000 to the price but it would certainly add a few hundred pounds to have a car ready to drive rather than one that needs £500 spent to have someone else do all the work. Mark Evans does a DVD on cleaning a car and if I remember rightly the clean one at the end ...

Took Ed down to Exeter to meet up with his new owner, never missed a beat all the way down, back to just one Acclaim now!

Re: Car SOS
Some good some bad... Regardless on whether the "sale" at the end is genuine or not there are usually some useful tips, especially in the earlier stuff... I've found that it seems to depend on the age of the car they are doing, some of the post 1990 stuff I don't find very interesting... Worth a wat...

Re: Commuter Classic
True but when you can pick up a 10 year old car for under a grand which will do the mileage the OP is talking of easily enough and replace it every 6/7 years I reckon it would be cheaper than trying to keep a classic on the road... I still feel that 20k a year for 30 years is too much to ask of an o...

Re: Commuter Classic
I do wonder if you're asking too much. To do that sort of mileage all year round in all weathers for 30 years, I just can't see any point in expecting any car to do it, new or old. I recon you'll be replacing bits left, right and centre... Then there's the fear that you'll have an accident and that'...

It'll only be worth celebrating if it does return to the "rolling" exemption, otherwise it's just tinkering...

Re: Car SOS
Shame they couldn't have been two-parters so some more of the technical stuff could have been shown, Phil, that's my only criticism of them as I feel that I learn more from WD than Car SOS even though I know that you've done far more work it doesn't show... Perhaps you have unshown footage that coul...
