Re: Jokes thread
The new Government in Egypt has asked the city's taxi drivers to drive around Cairo sounding their car horns.
It is hoped that the familiar sounds of the city will induce a return to tranquillity and normality
Operation "Toot 'n Calm 'Em" will last for the rest of the month.

Re: Austin A30 Gearbox Oil Leak
Well if it's anything like the gearbox on my 1275 Midget and Morris Minor, there isn't an oil seal, it's a scroll type "seal" that just drives the oil back into the gearbox when it's running. Mind you there isn't an oil seal on the rear of the crank on a standard "A" series either..... I've seen mos...

Re: The old cheap oil debate.
I assume we all understand that 6 months, 3 thousand miles changes are no longer needed. You assume wrongly - two of my cars specify 3,000 mile changes and that's what they get. I do let it go for more than 6 months though, I do believe that's not necessary. Basically, you can't change the oil ofte...

Re: Long brake pedal
Above post has lots of good advice IMHO. I would stress the usefulness of clamping off flexi hoses as a method of eliminating parts of the braking circuit - if you clamp off something and then you get a good solid pedal, then the fault is the other side of wherever you have clamped. Good advice, esp...

[Sorry Rick, but that took me so long to type with one thumb that I thought I'd just go right ahead and post it even after seeing that you'd got there earlier! Hehe - just goes to show that great minds think alike John.... Agree with you about taking out the glass, I've done this before, a call to ...

Re: 1988 Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign 3.6 light resto
Hi Kamil. those rusty bits are nasty! The ones around the windows especially, you can see where someone did a rubbish job before and it just kept rusting away underneath. You really need to take the glass out to sort it properly. Seconded, in spades. Trust me Kamil, I've been doing this for many ye...

I'd be surprised if it wasn't - it's made of stainless steel.kamilb1998 wrote:the rear bumper chrome and it was in surprisingly MINT condition underneath, with only a few little rust 'spots':
