Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
I've got to admit i'm completely amazed to have read that! It's great to hear a bit more about it, I have researched onto the history as much as possible and haven't learnt anything new for a while :) £10! If only I had paid that... Do you remember how much it was sold on for? i'm assuming from that...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
As there may not be any more photos for a while, I thought I would post a few of the car in the state that I received it. Hopefully if anything, they will convince you I was not entirely mad to buy this as a first project, I only wish I had fully appreciated the extent to which car body filler can b...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
:o I'm glad this thread is resurrected, very nice work, and I'll be eagerly awaiting more updates on this lovely motor :) Thanks, I hope i can fit in some time around work to make some more visible progress soon! That would probably be from one of the stations that uses the Moroccan LW transmitter ...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
Oh right, who knows then, it could have been that. I had it hooked up to probably three of four metres of wire in the form of the removed wiring loom from the Alvis, I may have even wrapped some ends together for good measure :D I'm fairly sure I could make out some arabic on one of the frequencies ...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
Wow, 200! I do to but having not been around them all that long I don't know all that much about them. I could be wrong about it being american, but they were speaking with american accents and talking about american news, I was quite surprised I must admit, perhaps it was broadcasting from somewher...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
Ah interesting, I do like the sound of these old sets, the valves definitely provide a warmth that isn't often matched by transistor radios. I also have a HMV radiomobile 100 radio as a backup, that really is a nice radio and very clearly picks up american stations on long wave, I had it set up in t...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
They seem quite hard to find, i've only seen the one you pointed out and another that turned up on ebay while ago. They're actually made by Ecko and are the CR32 model. It's quite fun as it picks up stations from europe and on a good day, even america. To tune it, you use a peg that goes in and conn...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration
The ash frame has needed some attention as well as the bodywork, After getting through some of the wood I bought a few years ago, a mate who worked down the lumber yard managed to get me four 8"x6" 6 foot long air dried ash beams for a tenner as they were closing down meaning I can safely finish all...
