Re: Will classics ever become affordable again?
Nash are one of my favourite manufacturers. They're right up there with Studebaker and AMC for me. Really interesting cars. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/8c/54/79/8c54791f99e0fd0eb96c705cf032090d.jpg http://cloudlakes.com/data_images/models/nash-metropolitan/nash-metropolitan-08.jpg...

Re: In the workshop at present
The alloy frame you mention, is that fabricated or cast? Seems a bit odd to have a steel skin on an alloy frame and not the other way around if the frame isn't a cast item. In the pictures the bootlid doesn't look too bad, I guess it will when we see the filler work going on.

Re: Vulgalour's Vehicles - 22/02 Renault
I am as happy today as the Renault made me unhappy yesterday. That's very happy indeed. Today was an opportunity to do some good with the Princess since I'd booked a chap to come out and sort my suspension out and see what else I could do on the car to make things a bit more finished and complete....

Re: Vulgalour's Vehicles - 21/02 Renault
Update time! Ready for some frustration? I bet you are. First job is to rotate the flywheel a full revolution to sort the timing out. It's just about impossible to photograph the valves, but this was the before shot (I think). http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab16/volksangyl/Renault%206TL/20170222...

Engineered well, rather than cheaply, as is the Jowett way.

Re: Vulgalour's Vehicles - 18/02 Renault
An American once told me "to assume is to make an ass out of you and me". Not sure what I was doing at the time to warrant the statement, but they're words to live by nonetheless. It is with this in mind that I approached the engine in the Renault today. It's entirely likely that by assuming I've do...

Re: Vulgalour's Vehicles - 18/02 Renault
I didn't have long to look at this today, just long enough to confirm it isn't the leads. I've checked them many times according to the manual and they are as they should be. So, I need to check the other timing stuff and that needs a greater investment of time than ten minutes. Just hope I get some...

Re: In the workshop at present
Those hinge pins look really complicated, I always thought door pins were just sort of non-threaded bolts, if that makes sense?

Re: Vulgalour's Vehicles - 14/02 Princess
Today I did some work on the Renault and failed to tick off any jobs on my list. Oh well. I wanted to try and get it running since the new radiator arrives next week and I'd got the emulsion tube/air corrector repaired and the carburettor all rebuilt. So, plonked the carburettor on the car, reconnec...

Re: In the workshop at present
That's really not bad at all for the age of the panels and is going to make a world of different to the paint. Quite exciting seeing this bit coming together.
