Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Think this is a record for the shortest time between me getting a car and getting a message from someone saying "Was this you?" relating to a post somewhere. https://i.ibb.co/GHppckq/Screenshot-20231212-183359.jpg Yep, that will have been me. Noticed another item for my shopping list today in the fo...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

We made it four days into ownership before I rage quit on the mishmash of budget tyres on the Trabant. Wouldn't have been quite as bad if the two matching tyres were actually on the same axle, but the tendency for it to attempt to rotate clockwise every time you so much as looked at any surface wate...

Are any of those wires live?
Haven't had the opportunity to check yet. Most likely a switched live and a ground. Brown I believe is generally the colour used for ground for vehicles from this sort of era from that area.

That cost me a car stereo learning that lesson back in 2002.

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Fairly short on time today, and that didn't really coincide with when the weather wasn't being awful aside for about half an hour, so nothing major to report today. I did however find time to refit the jacket over the engine cowling. It's pretty obvious how it fits in place when you're looking at it...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Today's mission? Apparently largely based around the eviction of zip ties. While most areas seemed a good deal drier than yesterday, there was still standing water in a couple of places, so I added a fan to the equation to get a bit of air circulation going inside the cabin. Even within an hour this...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

This afternoon water eviction was the order of the day. Can you tell which side had been attacked with the vacuum cleaner? https://i.ibb.co/Vpq5LL2/IMG-20231208-130950.jpg Witness marks from long term dripping make me suspect that the offside windscreen seal may be one of our main suspects. https://...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

This might sound a silly question, would the duraplast panels absorb moisture? I'm wondering about the puddles you have on the floor? Would drilling a hole let the water out? Some of my first cars were suffering from the same problem so I took the rubber bung out of the floor... :scared: I don't th...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Fascinating read, is the body made of resin/grp type thing?? You really ought to get a dehumidifier to dry it out.. can you borrow or hire one?.. ive used mine on several cars.. usually its for water damage jobs where the suspended toilet has been leaking for several years. Really worth the investm...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Progress report. The issue with the headlights/indicators has apparently self-healed. https://i.ibb.co/c8wrXb3/IMG-20231206-114927.jpg No amount of pushing, pulling or wiggling any wires in this vicinity could cause the issue to reappear...so I'll just need to keep an eye out for it I guess. I will ...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

This morning I was setting out to go drive the P4 120 miles south to swap over to the Trabant. The P4 has many good points, but currently the heater delivers approximately 15% it's rated output and there's no way to direct air to the windscreen. The wipers are also absolutely awful. Of course it daw...
