Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

What respirator is it? I'll need one soon and have been debating the best kind to get. I seem to remember Nitromors used to do a "glass fibre friendly" paint stripper but to be honest since they changed the contents I don't think it works as well as it used to. I had to strip and internal door and i...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

The Cresta is something else .. ex-hearse maybe? It's one of the ones converted from a saloon into that rather oddly styled estate when new by Friary, though I think that it would have been difficult to create an estate out of such a bubble shaped roof as the Cresta's so well done to Friary for fin...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

The Cresta is something else .. ex-hearse maybe? I've got an old Canon AV1 SLR .. used it a couple of years ago on a trip down-under. Worked well although it's a pain when you can only take 20 or 30 shots before having to swap out the film and have no idea how they came out until after a relatively ...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

My wife's uncle had a Javelin Convertible sitting in his front garden for years. It needed a new loom and I offered to make it for him (I don't mind car electrics) but he never took me up on the offer. He then moved so we lost touch but whether the car went with him we never found out. Oh and BMW ha...

Re: Sprayer

I'm not sure if he does the spraying on-site (I'm pretty sure he doesn't) but try this guy .. he is a bit further south though in the Grantham area ... he may be able to recommend someone https://www.facebook.com/RetroRebuildsOfficial/ the image will give you some idea of the finish that he will str...

Re: Paint advice please

It's something I have to do in the future and am planning on using anti-chip paint whici I can then over paint with body-colour if I decide too. Haven't decided what one yet .. but there will probably be a fair amount of rust-converter involved first too! You can get different types from a number of...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

I guess the parts were probably never expected to still be in the same place after so many years. I guess I'll have a fight with a couple of TREs when I start my Austin refurb!! Front wheel drive hubs fill me with dread. I've taken one to a local garage still attached to the drive-shaft and suspensi...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

It was immediately apparent that the split pins weren't interested in moving. Fine, that's a fight the garage can have tomorrow. I'd really rather not immobilise the vehicle fighting with it. Back when I was fixing up my old Austin, I used to find a well fitting long ring-spanner would usually snap...
