I learn to weld with an arc welder and a book. When I bought my first house I needed a trailer. When I bought a cheap trailer it needed welding. So I bought a $50 arc welder at a garage sale and practiced until I got the hang of it. The trailer is now long gone, but I still have that old welder and ...

My thinking is this: An EFI system is less likely to break and is likely to provide better performance, driveability and economy. However, when it does break, it's likely to be a tow truck job. You can't bodge it up enough to keep it running. If I was going on trip across the world in one of my cars...

I have a caravan and we use it.
We can stay places off the grid without the missus moaning about flappy canvas and leaky air beds.
We can take the dogs with us.
Hotels in this country are 2-5 times the price of a powered campsite in the same places. So it soon pays for itself.
