Re: Chrome hub caps on moden rims

Does anyone know of a source for the chrome rings? I could do with a set for the 13 inch steel wheels on my Matra. They were fitted originally to steel-wheeled cars, but are missing from mine. They used to be sold as accessories in the 60s and 70s and were called "Rimbellishers", but the popularity ...

Re: ownership

I know it's difficult to think of these things in trying circumstances, but the car is part of your daughter's estate, so ownership would be determined by her will if she left one, or the intestacy rules if she didn't, so the easiest thing would be for the new owner to apply for a V5C and take it fr...

Re: Radiator flush

I'm very wary about using flushing agents, particularly on alloy engines. By their nature they are very aggressive. I would simply take off the rad and back flush with a hose, and also run the hose through the heater matrix, no need to remove it.

Re: Exhaust regulations

But there's the issue when cars have been left on the forecourts and get a late registration, but should have a age related plates
Surely the registration date is the date of first use, so age-related plates would not be issued in those circumstances.

Re: What happened to this idea then?

However, they were altered to fail safe, so the spring kept the lamps up and the vacuum kept them down. You'd see the lights come up when the cars were parked and the vacuum gradually filled. Matra used a double-acting servo and once raised or lowered the lamps would remain in the position without ...

You just have to declare it when the tax runs out, or the insurance.

Re: Are we spending too much on our Classics?

Let's face it, running a car is an expensive business whatever you do. You can buy a new car, watch the value dwindle to nothing in a few years or restore a classic and still have something that's worth a bit of money at the end of it, even if it's a lot less than you've spent. You pays your money a...

Re: What happened to this idea then?

The idea behind pop-up lights was that it enabled you to have a very low bonnet line without contravening the regulations about headlight height and very good aerodynamics (when they were down at any rate :) ) I think they went out of fashion for styling reasons, and reliability problems with the li...

Re: Sick of Junk mail/ telesales!! read for revenge tips

It may be very satisfying to send all this junk back but the people who open it are just ordinary clerical workers trying to earn a living and well down the hierarchy from the people who order this, so don't ever expect it to make a difference. Registering withthe Mailing Preference service helps, b...
