The deputy headmaster was called Coombes, 'Crapper' Coombes to all and sundry.

Good one that.

A quite detestable man as I recall; he died a few years ago and the obituaries were the most strained in their praise you could ever read.

Yes that's right, a postal or email receipt only.

One supposes the reasoning was down to ANPR cameras and immediate police access to DVLA records rendering the discs obsolete.

Sad day though - just ordered the last one here; another slice of motoring tradition heading into folklore territory
