Re: BMW MINI

have you considered the real mini? That's a good point Rich, and I have considered it and keeping an eye out for one. Not too many good ones around in my price range (under 1500euro) but there is a chance with the models from the '90s which still don't qualify for classic car tax (need to be 30 year...

Congratulations, exciting times ahead!!

Thanks by the way for sharing the link, interesting reading. One of my absolute favourite cars ever, the Mustang Fastback from 1967-69!

Re: BMW MINI

Don't do it. Dreadful car, we had one for a few years and hated it with a passion. I'll be the voice of reason here and say I had a 2006 Cooper S JCW and loved it. I had a few minor issues but nothing major and some of the horror stories you hear (like the heater motor being stuck on even when the ...

Re: BMW MINI

Hi Rich, I actually wouldn't mind an MX-5 at all, and personally I have nothing against Japanese cars, it's just that the daft insurance companies here in Ireland by and large refuse to give classic car insurance for them unless they're 30 years old. Seemingly they're not "classic" enough, although ...

Re: BMW MINI

Hi Luxo, I completely get your point about the New Beetle being form over function, and same goes for the Mini, but that's kind of what's fun about them. You have them because of the feelgood factor (if you're not unlucky and get a whole heap of trouble as well) and not because they're in any sense ...

Re: BMW MINI

Have a look at this. Or, if you can spare the time, scroll down this lot and see the entire program. Thank you! I take you're a bit of a fan of the B GT then.... ;) I viewed this wee video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNI-LEt7zWs) with Danny Hopkins, interesting indeed, and admittedly I do like...

Re: BMW MINI

sis in law has just bought the old "new" beetle convertible she loves that... ;) Thanks Rich, that's actually not a bad idea either, worth considering no doubt! :) The new Beetle is not a bad idea. Another thought is to remember that if Insurance companies classify a car as classic you can get a ve...

Re: BMW MINI

Thanks Rich and Luxo, much appreciated! Sounds a bit like I might need to reconsider our second car option, must find a way to break it to my better half.... ;) The Suzuki Swift is 5th Gear's favourite car in that shape & size and beats the MINI hands down in every single way, VBH and Tiff both sai...
