Re: Austin A35 Project

Not many manufacturers of these. The ones I used are made in Holland and usually very reliable. There is another supplier in the UK but the quality of their panels in the past has been somewhat iffy. I have a couple of options if I can persuade a couple of people to part with some new-old-stock. Or ...

Re: Austin A35 Project

So those pretty new sills ... They don't fit .. The measurements are all over the shop compared with the original sills. Am awaiting a chat with the supplier this coming weekend. At the front there is about 1/2" gap between the edge of the sill and behind the lower a-post flange that is suppo...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

I've seen what the battery can do to a ring spanner when the earth was left connected ... and yes, the "handler" moved about ten feet backwards in one motion! (New Olympic event there? Backward long jump!) My comment about electrics was more aimed at moderns with their chips and microprocessors. Giv...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

I take it the Trabant is negative earth? Same on my Peugeot 206 that also has a quick release tab. BUT ... on the positive terminal. So much for all the handbooks and manuals with "disconnect the earth side of the battery first" .. maybe a quick release on both? And then we wonder why modern electro...

Re: A Little Help Please??

I know nothing about cars but wondered if someone could tell me if it's worth getting a car collector to look at it or if it will probably just need scrapping? No "Classic" should really just be scrapped .. unless you are Genghis Khan of London who loves removing perfectly good classics from the ro...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Were they separate bulbs or complete headlamps?

Bulbs rarely work as the light pattern doesn't match the reflector. Complete units are designed properly arond tge LED .. well some are!

Re: Austin A35 Project

It's a bit crusty but not too bad considering it's age  I've seen a lot, lot worse ... and being used on the road!!! I agree given it's age it is pretty solid. The worse two areas were the outer sills and they are in the process of being replaced. This is what I found when I started to pull...

Re: Austin A35 Project

Closed up some of the gap at the rear of the sill at the B-post .. just removing a small section of the end of the upper flange has meant that the sill now sits closer. Still need to sort the gap under the A-post but as Balrick said "I have a cunning plan!" ... just hoping my plan is more successful...

Re: 206

Good news, well sort of.. collected the new belt and fitted it after much blood and sweat lost as the new belt is just long enough to go on the pulleys with a bit of help by turning the engine over with a ratchet.. only slight movement of the adjustment and its running fine.. is it always this comp...
