Re: BMC Halogen conversion

In about 2002 I bought a pair of used Halogen headlights from an early Range Rover for $20AU. Fitted then to the Moke and they are still there today. I have not even changed a bulb in them yet. They have the flat lenses but that does not bother me one bit. :)

Re: What do you want to do most of all?

My wife lets me get away with a lot. We don't have a perfect marriage, but she is very tolerant of my automotive habits. To thank her I even bought her a classic Mini. Which I can play with of course. ;) As for anyone else who complains, I just tell them I have a condition called CRAPS - Compulsive ...

Re: Bnicho's 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle

As long as you don't buy a rustbucket a Beetle should be fine for a first car. The heater is not much good and there is not much in the way of creature comforts. On the good side though, they are very easy to manage on a DIY basis and most of the parts are cheap. I reckon this has to be the cheapest...

Re: What do you want to do most of all?

Generally I'm pretty happy with what I have. Sure, there is a few cars I'd like to buy someday. I'd like to move onto a couple of acres and have as much room for garages and cars as I desire. But the only thing I'd really wish for is TIME. I don't want to end up like my Dad, who worked his whole lif...

Re: Bnicho's 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle

I had some time off last week and Olive was due some attention. The front strut inserts have been leaking for some months so they were in dire need of replacement. After pulling the strut out on each side I found some of the factory applied seam sealer was cracked flaking away. Scraping it back reve...

Re: Today I have been ?????????????? to my classic

The gearbox for my Moke is all done. The block, crank and rods are all machined and the cam bearings have been pressed in. Hopefully the camshaft will be ready to collect today so I can get cracking on assembling the engine this weekend. I took a week off work last week and managed to service all th...

Loving the work you are putting into this conversion but just looking at the wiring loom gives me a headache!

Cheers,

Re: Bnicho's 1971 Morris Mini Moke.

Minispares finally sent my parcel of gearbox goodies late least week. Quite why it took them two weeks to process a simple order is beyond me. For about $100-150 more I could have bought the same parts from my favourite local supplier and had them within two days. I discovered my gearbox had the rar...
