Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

I luckily have an exempt vehicle because Genghis wants everyone to use his wonderful Tube to get into London ... and conveniently put my three or four most convenient tube stations just inside the ULEZ zone. In fact just before one station are a set of traffic lights where you turn left and the stat...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Trabant? Bingo! It's one of those cars which I've had on my radar (probably unsurprising given there have been half a dozen Ladas and rear engined Skodas in my automotive past) for a long time but has always eluded me so far. Will it be a long term fleet member? Who knows. Most likely not, ...

Re: Austin A35 Project

Having removed the remnants of the old sill and tidied the edges, I've not got to align the new one. It has a slightly larger gap than I want at the rear under the B-post where it overlaps the old bodywork and there is a gap under the A-post which needs to be sorted. The photo was taken before I mov...

Could you warm up the metal to set the glue? I use something similar to fix bolts into walls and it's great except when it's cold..trying to warm up walls is a bit more complicated..
That's an idea. I'll try that on the rear end patches

Re: Austin A35 Project

Pliogrip, that sounds interesting.. let me know what happens  In the end I only used it to fix the two patches I made to go over the front lower edge of the wheel arch and the small return flanges. After a few gentle tweaks to get the angle right to fit over that new panel they were still a...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

The SU "bible" also goes into great length about how to convert your Austin A30/35 or Standard 8/10 from the original Solex or Zenith to SU HS2.... That's simple for the A30/35 .. get the manifolds and carb from another A-series like a Mini and bolt it on! The downdraft Zenith warps over the years....

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?

I used to own a beige 2 litre ghia.. I put a new front end on it.. couldn't afford the insurance so it got sold.. :( Mine was an ex-fleet car. I'd sorted a few of the "pool" cars for the company I worked for and as a "Thank you" got the Cortina for a knock-down price and paid for over a year!! :D I...

Re: 206

I'd also look at the cabin filter area ... that's the intake fed from the bonnet intakes. I found one on our CC full of leaves and the filter was soaked. Otherwise the door and window seals and also the screen bonding could be a source. Maybe dry it out as much as he can (hard this weather!) and tes...
