Re: Oil grades?

20W/50 was pretty well ubiquitous then, 10W/40 was also available. I always used 20W/50 in Cambridge, Oxford, Maxi and Princess.

There is at least some electrical oddness going on too. The clock resets every time you turn the ignition off, so looks as though the permanent 12V feed for that has gone walkies somewhere. Also there's no side light position on the switch - first click takes it straight to dipped beam. Would have ...

There is one other IC in here which I'm pretty sure is just a display driver given where it is in circuit.

Don't recognise that maker's logo. Anyone able to ID it?

Is it National Semiconductor?

Re: 206

The tracking may not be as simple as a mere adjustment. The lower front wishbones are suspended at the inboard end by chunks of rubber rather than conventional bearings and when these give up the ghost it can throw the front suspension geometry out.

Re: breakdown truck

.. You can't press one for the money, two for the show. , but the velvety one posted by Rich has a spare earpiece on it. I've seen that idea in tat shops before now but can I remember what the extra cup is doing there? :( The extra earpiece is called a watch receiver, they used to be common in offi...
