Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

The Peugeot decided that it was about time to add something to it's to-do list today. https://i.ibb.co/yp76DV9/IMG-20231228-114247.jpg Guessing based on how it's behaving that we've got some gunk or moisture on one of the zebra strips between the display panel and the PCB it's mounted to. That will ...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Juke thing would have been one of my next guesses.. im surprised you have little experience with minis.. Will one be on your shopping list? Not really, for two reasons. First is that I simply don't fit comfortably in the driver's seat of one. I drove one for the first time a year or two back and wa...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Whats the blue car in the background? Toyota?? Old mini, the wings are welded in place.. some of the jobs you need to persuade local gynaecology department to help  Guess it shows that the Mini is a car I've virtually no experience with. The only one I spent any real time around was when I was...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Service access, you say... Well remove two thumbscrews and the whole front panel lifts out. https://i.ibb.co/QJfpQrB/IMG-20231224-152305.jpg Shown here while I was in the process of replacing the hose between the air cleaner and the carb. The old one was quite badly perished and a really loose fit. ...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

How does the mpg gadget work? The in-built one on the dash isn't calibrated in any way, it simply gives a good-bad indication based on fuel flow. The little gizmo clipped to the top of the dash is simply a set of thumbwheel controlled numbers. You can still buy them over here . The idea being I ima...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Can't really think of a better car for doing battle with the pre Xmas madness if unlike me you were unfortunate enough to have to go out into it today than the Trabant. Usually I'd have avoided going anywhere, but the delivery order we had yesterday evening was missing about 30% of what we'd asked f...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

This morning I got an email informing me that my parcel from Trabantwelt had arrived at my local Parcel Force depot and would be released for delivery once the customs charge had been paid, which I could do through their online portal. Details on that charge would be sent to me...in a posted letter....

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Had very little time available today but still managed to get something ticked off. If you look at the front of the Trabant it's obviously taken a minor knock to the front at some point. Nothing major, I'm talking a parking mishap rather than a crash. The visible evidence of that is a crack in the b...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

I had a closer look into the lighting situation today. Opinions online seemed to be 50/50 split over whether the "standard" 7" units will fit without modification. Helpfully I have both some spare headlight baskets that came with the car, and still have a cheap pair of 7" headlights that I bought fo...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Could you fit led headlights on the car  Theoretically yes, though they would look horrible, and it's not something I would ever do out of respect for other drivers, never mind the legal aspect. Last thing they need is me blinding them with optical systems that were never designed to work wit...
