Re: New Project...
Popped up to the AEC yesterday - "popped" being a relative term is its a 90 minute drive each way in the RangeRover - and put 50 litres of fuel in the tank. That in itself proved to be a task as the 2 x 20 litre cans could not be emptied in fully without risk of spillage so the remain had to be empt...

Re: Going East - getting a UAZ 469 back on the road
I went to start replacing the doors today. The two new doors shells are primed and painted, on the insides so I thought it would be a fairly simple job to swap them over. Cue demonic laugher!!!! Opted to start with the passenger front door. First thing I note is there is only one bolt in the bottom ...

Re: New Project...
A bit more progress - totally unexpected admittedly - but still progress. One of the other guys with vehicles in the same location messaged me the other day - seems they had been down working on his vehicles and one of his lads got a bit bored - so they pulled the Militant forwards enough to access ...

Re: Series 3 Landie FFR
Feeling rather pleased right now. Got back early hours of Sunday morning after completing a 400 mile round trip to Fort van Bornem in Belgium over the weekend - was there for a 2 day Living History event. The Landie behaved itself there and back - I did take out single trip Euro breakdown and recove...

Re: Going East - getting a UAZ 469 back on the road
Delivery came from Poland today - only 2 months short of being 2 years from the date of order. :D Last pair of doors, new style door tops for the front doors and all the necessary hardware (I hope). http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d146/ArtistsRifles/UAZ%20469/20160830_133009_zpsby344qq2.jpg http:/...

Re: Going East - getting a UAZ 469 back on the road
Well - the correct pitch was M10x1.0 - got the new bolts delivered but before bolting the prop on I was not happy about the way the drum looked. To test things out I put the UAZ back into 2WD, started the engine, engaged 4th gear and crawled back under. The drum was not spinning smoothly but had a s...

Re: New Project...
Another day working on the Militant.... Although the work content was not quite what I intended - plan was to use a pressure washer to get rid of all the loose crap, muck and algae. Just got the air pressure up to roll forwards when the farmer banned me from doing it as I'd block the yard. Seems I'l...

Re: Going East - getting a UAZ 469 back on the road
Well - here's another lulu - the pitch of the threads in the holes for the nose of the prop shaft are different to virtually every other bolt on the vehicle - every one I've undone so far at least which is most. Got the M10 bolts come today so I went to fit the prop so that I could take it down to M...
