Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

It was immediately apparent that the split pins weren't interested in moving. Fine, that's a fight the garage can have tomorrow. I'd really rather not immobilise the vehicle fighting with it. Back when I was fixing up my old Austin, I used to find a well fitting long ring-spanner would usually snap...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Could one of the sensor wires be shorting out on those anti-rattle shims? Still better than my old Alfa 156 where after a few weeks the sensor wire detached from the new pads .. and both sides .. the wire just corroded and fell off! Luckily I am not the type of owner to rely on warning lights for br...

Re: Trafficators with flashing indicators

Pretty sure this has been discussed on our A30/A35 Owners' Club forum a few times .. the A30 and early vans had semaphores too ..

Some others have gone a stage further and fitted flashing LEDs to the semaphores to "emphasis their presence" ... ;)

Re: Cylinder Block Waterways Rust Remover

I can concur there! 5 litre of Lidl's "finest" cola cleaned up a car club member's rad .. cheap to buy. Plugged the hose connectors and overflow, filled it and occasionally turned it over for a few days .. then repeats the exercise after flushing the rad from the bottom hose outlet. He was amazed at...

Wonder if the Bond designers got their ideas for the Bug from one of these..

We always referred to a school mate's Bug back in the 70s as his "inv**** carriage" .. probably not PC now ..

Re: Cylinder Block Waterways Rust Remover

I've heard Brick Cleaner has worked for some A-Series engined owners (mild hydrochloric). You will probably have to get engine out and strip it .. not sure what the acids will do to some of the metals used to close up casting holes, etc (core plugs, brass plugs, etc)

Re: 3xpendables Garage Project.

I'm always in envy of our US colleagues .. the garages are so much bigger and usually attached to the home so warmer, better powered, etc. I rented a house in Breckenridge, CO a few years back (only a week, and in summer!) and there you could drive down to the garage on your ski-doo, open ...
