Can't help you with taking it off or putting it back, but Sheldrake & Wells of Osborne Road wil repair it for you, they've just re-cored my Matra radiator and made a very nice job of it.

Installed newly re-cored radiator in the Matra, then found as I was re-filling it that one of the water pipe mounting brackets in the engine bay has fractured.

I suspect the main reason manufacturers say to only change your oil annually is environmental.

More likely because of pressure from fleet buyers to reduce servicing costs. I don't know how people can afford to have their modern cars serviced by garages these days.
