Re: Bristol going under : (
I've always had a soft spot for Bristol, having been driven to my wedding reception in a 401. They were an anachronism though, and I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have but it's sad to see another great name bite the dust.

I think you mean the Vehicle Surgeon, 01473 735575, although I have no experience of their work. I use Stephen Caulfield and Son of Tunstall, 01728 688462.

Re: Fuses
Fueses are really there to protect the wiring, so a good plan is to look at the wire gauge. You will probably find that 10, 20and 30 amps will cover most applications. Can't help you with taking it off or putting it back, but Sheldrake & Wells of Osborne Road wil repair it for you, they've just re-cored my Matra radiator and made a very nice job of it.

Installed newly re-cored radiator in the Matra, then found as I was re-filling it that one of the water pipe mounting brackets in the engine bay has fractured.

Re: The old cheap oil debate.
More likely because of pressure from fleet buyers to reduce servicing costs. I don't know how people can afford to have their modern cars serviced by garages these days.I suspect the main reason manufacturers say to only change your oil annually is environmental.

Re: The old cheap oil debate.
Hmmm I wonder why the oil manufactures said for the manufactures to recommend that... A rather cynical view. I think the reason for more frequent oil changes is at least partially because oil became contaminated more quickly due to less accurate fuelling from carburettors and greater running ...
