Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

I take it the Trabant is negative earth? Same on my Peugeot 206 that also has a quick release tab. BUT ... on the positive terminal. So much for all the handbooks and manuals with "disconnect the earth side of the battery first" .. maybe a quick release on both? And then we wonder why modern electr...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Armed with information from the internet I was able to release this battery clamp. https://i.ibb.co/CKbYFsL/IMG-20240121-142631.jpg Yes, you do just lift the red tab up. Though precisely why is still beyond me if you're not going to equip both terminals with that facility as it doesn't actually save...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Keep it, you know you want to... ;) do any of your neighbours want to rent a parking space to you or could you find a lock up or something similar I think most of our neighbours would rather murder me with dull spoons than rent me driveway space. We get along okay in passing at least with the coupl...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Do you want to paint the whole car at some stage? Would it be possible to refresh it with rattle cans? Realistically the whole thing could ideally do with painting. There are scratches right down into the plastic on every panel I think. Not really unsurprising for a 39 year old car which likely did...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Had another quick win in terms of ticking something else off the to do list this afternoon as this little (surprisingly heavy) box arrived this morning, vastly overpacked in a container the size of a large shoebox. https://i.ibb.co/BjR2wR1/IMG-20240116-133458.jpg This is the dip/main beam toggle rel...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

https://www.diy.com/departments/blyss-curve-moisture-trap-bright-white-translucent/3663602564959_BQ.prd Is this any good for you? To be honest beyond helping in a slightly musty wardrobe or the like those things are pretty pointless. They can't remove particularly large volumes of water, and really...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

I might borrow your idea for the parts washer, only when my better half is at work and the wash will finish before she gets home  Could you spray some stone chip paint on the floor to hide the damage and help with sound proofing? Just don't use too hot a wash (for plastic items anyway) and avo...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Would putting the plastic light parts in the dishwasher clean them as you would like? Asking for a friend :scared: Funny you should mention that... -- -- -- Ford Ivory White looks to be a far more acceptable match to the actual colour of the car. Not absolutely perfect as it's a touch too yellow if...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Handful of little things today. Added a dedicated ground to the plate holding the ignition coils in place as it's also used as a star point for the offside headlight and indicator. I wanted to actually move it to another location on the plate so you could tighten it a bit more, but clearance is an i...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Rover, Renault, Peugeot, Trabant, Invacar & Sinclair C5

Nothing really visible to show for today's half hour of car time. https://i.ibb.co/1LyMVXZ/IMG-20240111-142817.jpg Hard to tell, but both headlights have now been replaced with ones having a proper beam pattern for UK roads. They've been adjusted to look vaguely sensible based on the beam on the fen...
