Re: Sidelight restoration.
Now that's dedication! I would've binned it and found one in better condition. I know that replacements aren't always available so restoration is the only option.

Re: Do you want From the Humber up over to join Scotland?
There's no way I'd want to be part of Scotland! I've nothing against the Scots. They can do their own thing. If anything, there should be an independent Yorkshire Republic

Re: History.
This is how forum discussions should be. It is credit to you Bob that you didn't start a flame war and responded to the constructive criticism in the appropriate manner. If more threads were like this, the world would be a better place. The suspension hydraulics thread is another example where it di...

Re: Coverting points to electronic and looking after dizzys.
Electronic ignition is not affected by timing scatter unless the dizzy shaft is seriously worn. It is generally more reliable than points and condenser and is virtually maintenance free. There are plenty of poor quality ignition components (points, condensers and rotor arms) so it is no wonder that ...

Personally, I wouldn't do the van conversion but at the end of the day it is your car so you can do with it as you see fit. You can't please all the people all the time and anything which keeps it alive can only be a good thing.

Re: what should i get....
The Dolomites that have the bri-nylon seats are quite comfortable. Yes, I'm biased too! They have good club support, can be easily fixed with conventional tools. Just get a decent one and you won't go far wrong.

Re: Kadett D Restoration New Background Video
One of my Triumph friends has restored a Mk 1 Astra. The restoration thread is HERE on another forum which I frequent (I'm also a moderator on that forum). He also posts on the MK1 Astra Owners Club forum. I've just found his resto thread HERE on that forum. As you can see from my sig below, my mode...

Re: JLO the Triumph Dolomite 1850HL
John, the engine is still as good as ever (probably the best part of the car at the moment!). I'm not too worried because I have a "Plan B" in the shape of a spare engine that somebody has somewhere in Leeds. My main worry is a rotten subframe mount which is affecting the handling at the front end. ...

JLO 939V the Triumph Dolomite 1850HL
I've read in the mag that Neil has been reunited with the Dolomite 1850HL that he and Sam used (and abused) on various driving events. The word from Dolomite land is that it is in need of an engine replacement. Neil, if you're reading this can you tell us more? If it is something that's going to be ...
