Overseas restoration workshops
Hi Folks, Does anyone have any experience with shipping a car off to be restored in Eastern Europe or elsewhere? I'm actually only looking for a top class bare metal spray job, but getting a good job done locally is looking expensive at 50Euro per hour. I'm well aware of the potential for disaster w...

Re: Just how you would like to find them
Lovely car. It's amazing what's in people's garages. I rented a flat last week when on holiday with my family in Scotland. I was in the kitchen one morning and noticed a couple accessing one of a line of garages. They pulled up in an unloved (and awful in my opinion) PT-Cruiser. Up went the garage d...

Re: W108 Mercedes 280SE diesel conversion project
I've been lacking with updates as seems to be a theme with this write-up, but, thankfully not because no work has been going on! I've been having (anticipated) trouble with rear axle ratios. When I test drove the car, the gearing was very low, as expected. in 6th at 35-40mph. I tried running on whee...

Re: Ukranian charging circuit diagram help please!
Thanks Bob, I've since found out that 2 is the voltage regulator. As far as I can tell, the rectifier circuit in 1 is only used to engerise that electromagnetic coil which, when energised would cut the feed to the starter relay (3). I wonder if it just stops you from cranking the starter when the al...

Ukranian charging circuit diagram help please!
Any auto electrical wizards out there? http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn315/prynatcc/forum_screenshots/Circuit_Diagram_zps1zndjdez.jpg The circuit diagram shows the alternator and 3 little boxes labelled 1, 2 & 3 for the purposes of this post. I can cope with 3 myself, it is simply a starter rel...
