Can you find a wire that connects to that 30A fuse that is hot (temperature hot, not American live hot!)? It might be traceable back to some failed insulation somewhere. Alternatively remove wires one by one from it to see if you can eliminate the issue?

Update time! Mechanical work is essentially complete except for some aesthetic work to make the rear axle conversion look nicer. Next step is to patch the rusty bits. I'd be covering it in a foam backed vinyl. Is glue the best way to attach the two, or staples, or what?
