Re: Brake Failure!

Many thanks for your suggestions, I will order one from one of those well established suppliers. I have removed the guilty item and it is marked 'Lucas', so is as John said, either very old stock, or a cheap copy. It has obviously ruptured internally, as all the remaining brake fluid has since drain...

Brake Failure!

Yesterday, I planned to take Mrs Tigdlo out to lunch in my 100e Pop, so in the morning I gave the old girl (the car that is!), a quick check over - tyre pressures, engine oil, water and brake/clutch fluid levels. All were fine. As the car hadn't been used for a week, I took it for a short run up the...

Re: Any MG Midget fans here?

T reg would be a 1500 Triumph lump. If it sounded tappety, it's probably in good condition!!

Re: youtube

That reminds me of my Minicross (850cc) racing days in the late '70's, early '80's.

Re: breakdown truck

Does the '35 Citroen come with a ghost? If so, could be useful helping with some of the heavy and boring bits of the restoration!

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?

It's only a guess, but I reckon that's a 1938 Triumph Vitesse.
What causes me to think that?
'Cos it says so on the info board at the front of the car!

Re: 65 CORTINA MK1 GT

GHT, my comments were, in case you hadn't realised, tongue in cheek! The experience that you described doesn't surprise me. In 1968, a friend of mine purchased a 1965 Cortina very cheaply because it had failed it's first mot due to severe rusting around the rear shackle mountings. He ended up replac...

Re: 65 CORTINA MK1 GT

As a past owner of two Mk1 Cortinas, I take issue with your statement that these would rust through within a year or two. I reckon at least three! The 'strengthener' plates to which you refer, were really only intended to hide any wingworm from the MOT man, but added practically no strength to the s...

Re: Steering box fluid/oil

The later three wheelers used a very similar steering box to the Ford 100e. There have been recent suggestions of using the jollop used in Landrover front swivels, which is a semi-grease which doesn't leak out, causing MOT anguish. I have yet to try this in my 100e, but may do when the bottom seal s...

Re: Austin A30 Seven

This A30 rebuild is a great inspiration to me, as I am doing very much the same with my 1958 100e Prefect. The only real difference is I'm working out in the open. At 64, it does take a certain amount of willpower to drag me from my comfy armchair this time of year!
