Re: Buying a car with *little* id

No, not really. I've just never bought a motor with this level of id missing. V5 maybe, or a VIN tag, but never where everything but the chassis stamp isn't there.

Just being cautious and seeing what other people have done.

Re: Buying a car with *little* id

Afraid not. At this stage it could be no plates, no VIN, no V5, just chassis stamp.

The owner could probbably tell me what the reg is, but I'd rather be cautious in case it's a tall story.

Buying a car with *little* id

And by little I mean it has some. Are we sitting comfortably.... I have the chance to buy an old 1972 Cortina which was a company car and when the chap retired he kept it as a present. Unfortunately the chap died not long afterwards and the car then sat in the family garage until circa 1982 when his...

Brake pedal travel

Car in question here is my 1984 Ford Capri 2.8i. It has developed a new and intermittent problem on the brakes. Once in a while when I press the brake pedal the travel is further than normal and the brakes aren't as strong. If I release and press again they're fine immediately and it might not happe...

Re: Buyers guide - Saab 900

Thanks for the replies. A Saab 9000 doesn't really do it visually for me compared to the 900. The other idea I'm toying with, though it's much more a fun factor, is a Rover SD1 3500 fitted with LPG. I just don't think I can get a decent non-rusty one without paying strong money. I'm in no rush to sp...

Buyers guide - Saab 900

Can anyone tell me if PC has ever done a buyer's guide for the classic shape Saab 900? I've just sold my Sierra XR4i (it was on here) and I'm also toying with the idea after 7 years or so ownership of moving on my Nissan X-Trail and buying a real nice retro as a daily instead. The 900's from the 80'...

Gunson Gastest comp

Is it just me, or does it not say how to enter in the mag?

It does say "Visit www.gunson.co.uk or call 01926 815000 for more information or to find your nearest supplier" but if I go to their site there's no competition.

I reckon a piece of kit like this would be very useful to me.....

Best paint for storage

I've acquired some vey old original original Cortina wings that I'm going to clean up and store for future use. Today I've started taking the 1st one down to bare metal with the aim of making sure there's no surface rust prior to the long term storage, and my thoughts are starting to turn to the bes...

Re: Plastic dashboard repairs?

I've just spoke to Woolies (thanks TerryG and Luxobarge). I've explained the situation and they're going to find out for me if the product is suitable and send me a sample of the blue colour they do. Their concern is just how plastic the dash is rather than vinyl. I can't argue with that level of se...

Re: Plastic dashboard repairs?

Sorry it's been so long before I got back to this but it's been chaos on the work front as I'll be gone in a few more days. Anyway, back to it. Find below a couple of pics which if you take a look around the dash vent area shows the pretty bad damage around the top centre vent. http://i3.photobucket...
