Torque Wrenchtoo small
I need a torque wrench that can tighten a hub nut to 200 ft lbs. My torque wrench will only go up to 100 ft lbs and a suitable torque wrench is a hell of a lot of money to only use once or twice. If I make up an extension to move the pivot point from the centre of the nut being tightened to a foot f...

Re: Sunbeam Alpine with Oil filler cap blow-back.
Has your Alpine got a hose from the rocker cover to the air cleaner? If it has check that it is not blocked. I had a Fiat 127 which had a similar problem and cured it by removing the spark arrester ( looked like a piece of bottle brush ) from the hose which was completely gummed up and replaced it w...

Adapter for OBD2 reader
Is there an adapter to enable an OBD2 reader to be plugged into the 9 pin diagnostic socket on a 1983 Mercedes 380sl? We cannot turn the warning light for worn brakes off. A friend has an OBD2 reader and has reset the warning lights on my Mazda with it. Any ideas and where can I get one ?

Re: Practical Classics restoration show, who's going?
Went on Saturday as there was a show in Pembrey on Sunday. We have this sussed now . We leave early(5.30) and have breakfast in the Toby carvery before going to the show and then back to the Toby on the way home so we miss all the traffic both ends of the day. Got home in time to have a pint as well...

Re: DRIVE IT DAY APRIL 27TH.. YOUR PLANS
Off to Ireland with a few friends for 4 days around the Wexford area. Going in my "new" Maxi. Only had to change 2 ball joints on the front suspension as the boots had perished to get an MOT. Not bad for a £180 purchase. Hoping to meet up with a local classic car club when we are over there. Apparen...

Re: best way to clean out petrol tank?
Not a method of cleaning a tank but a way of avoiding crud blocking the pick up pipe. One of our combine drivers forgot to replace the filler cap on the fuel tank. After a day the tank had a layer of barley awns floating in the deisel . It was almost impossible to get the tank off so I made a gauze ...

Re: Austin Maxi Manuals
Thanks for the replies boys. I collected the car yesterday and I think I have got a bargain. A one owner, 71450 miles and has been garaged all its life. Not been used for two years so no MOT. All it needs is a full service, t cutting and a good polish and its ready to roll. There are a few blemishes...

Austin Maxi Manuals
I have bought an Austin Maxi 1750hl. It's in remarkably good condition but would like to get hold of a workshop manual and handbook so that I can check it out and give it a proper service. I have seen sites recommended on here but can't find them. I purchased a disc online for my Mazda 6 but it was ...

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Rich, I thought you had come home to Wales and gone for a stroll around Castlemartin tank range. There are dozens of knocked out tanks there used as targets. Most came from the end of the cold war in the nineties. When you see the damage done by an armour piercing shell the last place you need to be...

Re: Side indicator lamp identification
I don't suppose you have a lot of time monitoring warning lights when racing. Have you thought of fitting a buzzer? We had a lorry damage an engine because the oil light wasn't that visible in low winter sun. We fitted buzzers to most of the fleet and did save 1 engine when an oil filter seal failed...
