Re: wooden trim restoration
My old woodwork teacher taught us how to do a scraped finish. You cut out a2-3" wide piece from an old woodsaw and file one edge perfectly flat. When you have a perfectly flat edge round off the corners slightly. Then using a knife sharpening steel put a burr on the edge. To remove any imperfection ...

Re: Sticking brakes
Check the handbrake cables are not as stiff as pokers. I have had several cars where the handbrake would stick on and found the cables had gone stiff . Squirt oil into the end of the cable while someone operates the handbrake and give the outer a few pulls to get it supple. Worked most times for me....

Just been told by Machine Mart that new head gaskets for my Airmaster Tiger 15/55 compressor are no longer available. Any body know where I could get them from. Head bolts had worked loose but too late to retighten them and save the gasket.

Re: Amazon or A30?
If you take the A30 and dad takes the Volvo what is Ian taking, his traveller or OLY? I guess you are doing the County run from Withybush. I will not be there this year as I am going to Dorset steam fair and Beauleiu auto jumble which sadly overlap this year and clash with the county run. I used to ...

Re: Bonnet gas struts
Terry, There's a firm on line making and selling gas struts for various vehicles. They are SGS engineering. They may be able to help you and save a lot of head scratching! I tried ringing them a couple of weeks ago, I need hatchback struts for my Maxi, only there was a problem with their telephones. ...

Re: Herald 13/60 air box bolt
If only one bolt fell out why don't you take out the other one and use it as a pattern for the replacement? Are you sure that the bolt fell out and is not lodged somewhere in the air filter housing. Could get expensive if it finds it's way into the engine.

Re: Clarkson suspended
They will soon get another tv company to sign them up for far less than they are paying the Premier league to transmit their pig bladder kicking matches. The sums that Sky and the BBc are paying them is insane but probably good business . Biggest problem is what to call their programme. Can't be Top...

Re: RUSTED BOLT/NUTS
After drilling a bolt for an easy out,or welding on a nut( my prefered way of removing a rusted bolt) always leave the job time to cool down . If you try to turn a bolt as soon as you weld it, it will break off as the heat of welding will expand the rusted bolt making it even tighter. Same applies t...
