Re: My Christmas present to me

If that red E30 is a 325i I'd be interested if you ever want to get rid. Should have a job soon! ETA: Or is that a 5 series (E34)? It's an E28 535is with a 5 speed. It's been blasted in the side so a parts car. Was in really nice pre-accident condition. I'm probably going to swap the interior into ...

Re: Will classics ever become affordable again?

Cars are getting more generic looking and more complicated as they get newer but there are a few moderns that are destined to become classics. What this means in the future is that there will be fewer to be considered 'classics' but they're getting there. 90's era Supra, 3000GT and 300ZX are all cli...

Re: Will classics ever become affordable again?

Another important point is that classics rise in value when people reach an age where they have the disposable income to buy their dream car. Right now, the late 70's and early 80's cars are popular because the kids who used to dream about them are now in their late 40's and 50's, they are at the to...

Re: My Christmas present to me

Too many, but i've elected to go through a purge and dismantle or sell a bunch of my project cars. I don't have enough years to fix them all.

Toy Hauler

Picked up a new toy hauler last week. 2000 GMC 3500 'dually' short bed 7.4 liter Vortec V8 with a GM 4l80E electronic 4 speed automatic. Overall very nice shape except reverse struggles (common issue with this transmission) DVD player in the back Should serve well as a car and parts hauler https://s...

Re: Too new for this site 2006 MK5 golf

Terry,

The nuts and bolts turn counter clockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten. Everything should come apart pretty easily on a new car.

Re: My Christmas present to me

My 2 post lift has come in really handy over the years, I bought it used from a buddy of mine and it had bad seals and a bad motor. By the time I got to rebuild the seals and the motor, I could have bought a new one but it would have been a cheaper Chinese lift and not a US made Rotary. It's quite h...

My Christmas present to me

I've had a 2 post lift for a good few years now and it's been a real help especially when doing suspension work as I hate crawling around on the floor and underneath cars. However, when I tried to put my 1 ton pickup truck on it, it's simply too narrow and awkward as the arms have to be fully extend...

Re: Will classics ever become affordable again?

Let's define profit as: 1) where it sells for more than you paid for it? 2) where it sells for more than you paid + the parts? 3) where it sells for more than you paid + parts & labor?: 4) where it sells for more than you paid + parts, labor, tax, insurance and storage? 5) What about opportunity cos...
