Always set the timing by hand on my old Rover as like some of the others have found the original specs just dont match the cars needs with the modern fuels we have today

The pump operated washers on my Rover were a bit weak and feeble one year I was informed by the tester but I just claimed that it was a drout year and it was a water saving device, the tester just grinned and wrote out the pass ticket - my type of tester!
