From the pictures in the link the base of the axle that the star adjuster mechanism is rotating on is just pressed in. The only way i have to pull it is to screw in the adjuster and pull the centre axle out with the puller. Hence my concern about stripping the threads.

hI Kevin thanks for the information but the thread doesn't show how to strip the inside of the piston, just the cylinder and caliper which i've done already.
I'll try searching a few more forums myself but i was hoping to find someone who has done it already here.

It's cheaper to buy a new one on ebay but the postage on both and the exchange rate to Ireland kills the bargain stone dead.
I'll buy a rebuild kit that includes a new piston etc. I'm fairly handy mechanically I've done new seals before.

Well the vacuum pipe was bone dry as was the servo. The fluid is coming from the handbrake assembly on the rear nearside brake caliper.
So now I'm wondering is the caliper toast or can I rebuild it. Has anyone seen this before???

Thats a good idea to "dip" the servo. Didn't get a chance to look at it today as she was working.
Can you recondition the master cylinder and servo or are they disposable items only?
