Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

I may need to devise a way to catch the excess so it doesn't stain the garage floor .. or the very expensive driveway!!! Spot on - I've done things very similar to that. Actually you don't get through a huge amount of paraffin (I use heating oil!) so a few large sheets of cardboard may suffice, sup...

Re: Paint advice please

I've used some of the Bilt-Hamber products but not in earnest yet. I used the Hydrate-80 on a small patch on my old Alfa 156. It worked really well. I've also used the Deox-C on some parts to good effect .. I soaked a couple of old MG Midget rear brake backplates in a bowl of that for a few days .....

Beautiful dog! We got a yellow Labador puppy in March, he's now 6 months old and we're totally smitten with him, really adorable. Yes, that's what's known as a paraffin gun, good for cleaning engines, engine bays etc. with paraffin or other cleaners, I also use this for spraying on Dinitrol, Waxoyl ...

Re: Paint advice please

I am newcomer to classic car restoration and recently purchased a Triumph Stag to keep me busy in retirement. I've been looking at the car underseals online is Waxoyl or Dinitrol the best solution? Re: Paint advice please

No problem - however, I know a lot of us on here would love to see pics and hear the story of your mini van restoration, any chance of starting a thread on it?

Cheers! :D

Re: Paint advice please

As above, however if you're painting on to bare metal I'd strongly recommend a decent coat of etch primer first - use 2-pack if you can, but even the normal cellulose-based 1-pack is very good to provide a really strong key on to the metal. After that, a chassis paint and/or anti stone-chip paint. F...

That's brilliant! A quality piece of kit that, well worth saving, well done. I'll just go grab some connectors from Mapl...oh. No I won't because they don't exist any more. Great! Amazon it will be then. Tip for the future, rather than feather the nest of yet another huge American corporation, can I...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

Thanks folks, I do worry that my waffling is tiresome to folks sometimes and worry that I post too much trivia, so nice to see that I'm not just boring everybody! No, keep it up, often don't have anything useful to say so few replies, but very much enjoying the stories. What on earth would I replac...

[] Hit the trim from above the windscreen with the carbide mop on the grinder to get rid of the old adhesive, then paint it. Loving this thread - keep up the good work! Just one comment, if you use an abrasive to remove adhesive, I'd expect it to clog up very quickly and not work, I'd be thinking a...
