Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70
Regarding your Girling master cylinder, the ‘625’ refers to the bore diameter in inches i.e. 0.625” or 5/8”. This is the size used on many older cars such as the Ford 100e, 105e and early Cortina, as well as the earlier Triumph Herald. Cylinders of this type are available new on the well known aucti...

Re: breakdown truck
On this subject of high performance commercial vehicles, has the law changed regarding speed limits? My only motoring fine to date in nearly 50 years of motoring, was in 1975, when a bored traffic cop spotted me driving my privately registered Mk1 Escort van at 68 mph on a de - restricted (70 mph) d...

Re: breakdown truck
Actually, apart from the colour, I quite like that! But then, I am rather partial to Cortinas.
I can imagine trolling up to the average campsite in that, and the look of horror on people's faces!
Happy New Year to you all.

The only thing I have ever had to replace is the liner, which wore out, causing the feed wire to stick. I have wondered if it was time to r...

Re: REAR BRAKE SHOES
You are spot on regarding the leading shoe linings wearing quicker. This is because the drum rotation creates a 'servo' action on these shoes, which isn't present on the trailing shoes. Worth mentioning, it is important that the rear wheel cylinders on these cars are able to float, or slide, on the ...

Re: Brake Failure!
Thanks for that GHT. I have totally rebuilt this car from the ground up, and all the brake hydraulic parts were replaced with new items purchased either from the owner's club, or from a well established specialist within the past four years. Unfortunately, there is a lot of rubbish being sold within...
