Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
Thanks JPB, the car is in superb condition and has covered only 40K miles and is totally original. I have attended quite a few car shows throughout the summer, I won best sixties car in show at one very large event, I was well chuffed. Travelling around with the temp gauge near hot always was a worr...

Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
At last the problem is solved, I adjusted my voltage control regulator . I was getting 15.6 volts from the Dynamo and adjusted it down to 14.2 volts . I started the car and still the temp gauge went up to the hot mark, So I bit the bullet and Bought another Temperature transmitter from a different s...

Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
Hi again chaps, Here's the state of play as of today. This morning I got the car up to temperature and checked the engine temperatures at both idle and at revs, 77 oC and 81oC respectively so I'm reasonably confident that the engine is not overheating. I disconnected both dynamo leads and restarted ...

Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
I've had another play today, I measured the voltage from the transmitter wire with the ignition switched on and did the same with the fuel gauge wire , both read 12.2 volts. I then measured the voltage on both wires from the ignition switch to the temp gauge and the fuel gauge again with the ignitio...

Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
I visited another auto electrician workshop today, he checked my charging voltage which was 15.5 volts and checked out the voltage control box. He said the control box was working correctly and could cope with up o 16.5 volts from the dynamo. He said the fault lay with the voltage stabiliser, he loo...

Re: Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
Thanks for that JPB, I found the stabiliser on my mgbgt and converted it to a solid state one to fix a fuel gauge problem, which worked ok. I saw nothing of a one on the Wolseley though. I will check the dynamo output in the AM, I have a spare if needs be. thanks stan

Wolseley 16/60 temperature reading problem
My 1967 Wolseley 16/60 is currently having A temperature reading problem. When it gets up to temp and I am travelling along in normal driving conditions the gauge reads very close to the hot mark, but if I knock it out of gear and let the revs drop to idle the gauge reading drops down to below half ...

Re: Strange fuel gauge readings.
I had a similar problem with my 69 GT, I bought a new old stock voltage stabiliser , fitted it and still had dodgy volt readings. I had fitted a new sender unit, another gauge and even slave wiring and still my fuel gauge was giving me erratic readings. I then decided to try a solid state stabiliser...

Dynamo service
HI , I've just bought a spare dynamo for my 1965 MG Magnette Mk IV. It is a Lucas C 40 type, I have bought some new brushes to fit and the bearing seems ok. My car has been changed to negative earth at some stage in its past, if I fit this dynamo at some point will it work ? What I mean is will the ...
