Re: Sunbeam Alpine Electric Fan

I have fitted a scrap yard electric fan to my Alpine, it's off a Citroen ZX, mounted in front of the radiator, I utilised an aftermarket control unit from ebay, it works very well.

I'd recommend Rust Busters 2 pack epoxy, brilliant stuff, available in different colours, but can be over painted.

Re: MGF's or whatever they are

Brilliant little cars, great fun, we've had our '97 MGF for 4 years now, no head gasket problems, 124k on the clock, a much underated car.
Cheap as chips, go buy one you'll not be disappointed!!!

Re: Alpine front suspension

Take no notice of what it looks like jacked up, what's it like on its wheels? There maybe different amounts of shims in each side, but if it still looks like too much negative camber, I assume it's neg camber? then you'll have to get all the steering geometry checked, castor, camber & tracking, and ...

Re: So who's doing the classic motor show at the NEC?

I'll be there all weekend working with the PC team & the Wheeler Dealers, we are rebuilding an MGB Roadster over the weekend. I'll be assembling the engine in my Practical Classics Workshop, so come along and have a chat.

Re: the right project ??

Andy, there's a Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet advertised in the Boston Classic Car Club's magazine, tested till March 2014, taxed till September, needs a bit of work to make really nice, but could be enjoyed while you sort it out, £795 ono, I know he's desperate to be rid of it! It's located near Bourn...

Re: tyres

I've just fitted some Falken 165x13 tyres to my Rapier (see latest mag) and I also have 165's on my Alpine, 185x13 will be too big & may rub when turned in a lock, they may also catch on rear arches.

Re: Idle problem with Weber 28/36 DCD

Is the carb jetted to suit your car or did it come off something else? You'll never get it to run correctly if it is not jetted to suit your car. go on the internet and see what jets are recommended for your car. All jets are available in sizes to suit your needs from Weber specialists. The idle jet...
