Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

I will leave the driving of Shadows into swimming pools to Jezza. A few years back a guy drove a Shadow off the ferry slipway into Poole harbour. He survived but the car didn't. Shadows 1 are getting rare. They made 8000 RHD cars. 1/2 exported the RHD countries. Out of 4000 cars sold in the UK it's ...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

Fortunately my cars don't leak and are garaged when not in use. But regardless of the precautions when used in wet weather damp will get in the car. I use the AC to dry the car. Also my carpets are 100% polypropylene that is like Wilton to look and touch. The Jeep has carpets that are held down by c...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

Foamex it is then. Next time a door card comes up for remanufacture I shall give it a go. New ideas and all that.

I do question Leather walnut and Wilton in cars due to damp. Especially Wilton carpet.

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

It is in the realms of diy to make door cards that are as good as what MB fitted if not better. Use 3 mm thick marine ply. Cut to shape with holes for clips and furniture. Cover with thin foam use trim adhesive. Cover with cloth, vinyl or leather use trim adhesive. Paint the back with enamel underco...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

Wickes sells hard board. Also 3 mm marine ply is used by trimmers on the better cars.

Oil tempered hardboard is also available.

Pre cast glass fibre flat sheets.

Check out marine stuff.

Re: severe weather

That's a nice thing to offer.

I am in Bournemouth and the temp is 14c and a warm breeze. Quite pleasant. Some are paddling in the sea.

I haven't had the heating on at home. I will be able to use the money saved for tyres.

Re: Rotor arm?

I believe these rotor arms are red in colour.
Powerspark do electronic ignition for about 40 quid. My cars points and condenser cost out 30 quid. When my points finally wear out I will try out their kit.

Re: Exhaust manifold leak

Many years ago I had a Vellocette LE noddy bike 200cc water cooled horizontally opposed side valve. The right head gasket blew so I faced both heads on my lathe and fitted without gaskets. It ran fine and it can't blow a gasket because it hasn't got any.

45 mph great little bike.

Re: Exhaust manifold leak

Gun smiths hold the metal in the flame which condenses the black soot on the surface of the bit. Then they fit the bit and slide it around. Where the soot is rubbed off is the high spots. For stuff like manifolds engineer's blue is easiest and a shoe polish sized tin is about a quid and lasts for ye...
