Re: MOT exemption, good thing or no?

it wont stop me taking my Singer for the annual MOT, worth doing just to make sure she is safe.
There will be loads who dont see it like that and run something potentially dangerous about.

Re: 1965 singer vogue recomission

Thanks Rich Gotta say now I've had her a few years, it's a joy to own her. What is rewarding is that all the work I did a couple of years back to recommision her has held up well, brakes are superb and it is a very smooth drive now. I did have an annoying leak from the autobox but 5 mins with a torq...

Re: 1965 singer vogue recomission

Booked today off, up early and off to Chirk to get the Singer MOT'd. Good inspection done, brakes tested and in good fettle and got the pass. Just having a brew then off for a cruise. Very friendly garage and you are ok to get under the car whilst it's on the ramp. Noticed the exhaust is past it's b...

Re: strange missing fault

I fully agree with John re the Accuspark units being a 1 size fits all type solution so not ideal. what I would say however is that that Scepter engine appears to be exactly the same as my Singer's so for the money, the accuspark unit would help identify a potential issue. as said, my car runs lovel...

Re: strange missing fault

A few years back, during the period following my singers recommision, I had a very similar experience. My problems turned out to be the lucas electronic ignition. Fitted sometime in the 1970s it would run fine then start to break down, giving the impressions of a fuel problem. Eventually gave up the...

Re: Mis -firing MGB GT (been here before!)

Good advice about the fake coils JB, I bought 2 fake ones off Eblag, innate end, I went to my local Aircooled VW garage who are also a Bosch stockist and paid a bit more for a genuine one.

Re: 1965 singer vogue recomission

So, despite the low temps and heavy snow today, I ventured into the garage. I have the singer wired up to a smart charger which keeps the battery in good condition when not in use. Plan was to turn the engine over a few times, after a period of rest, she takes a few cranks to fire up, pumped the thr...
